Welcome to Brian McBride.Ca!
I would like to welcome everyone to my revised personal site. Its been a long time since I have done much of anything with this page but with the growth of IV-XX and some of my other projects I figured now was an ideal time for an update. For those of you who have not been here before, I am Brian McBride and this is my home page. I have quite the diverse range of talents and skills but I can boil down almost everythign I do into the 3 things I am most passionate about:
Culinary Arts: Ever since my childhood I have loved cooking, i have many horror stories of almost burning the house down and so on but I graduated from High school, attended the Culinary Arts program at
NAIT, completed my 3 year apprenticeship and have cooked for everyone from family and friends to the Queen Elizabeth II.
Computers: I have been fortunate enough to grow up with access to computers for a large portion of my childhood. My mother had always used them with work and as I grew more currious she would expose me to more and more. I moved from simple games and word processing to spreadsheets and databases. When I hit high school I started to move in my own direction currious about the internet and programming and started to learn as I went along. I soon found great people to teach me all sorts of things, I got into IRC, running Linux(thanks to Chuck), and into managing servers, and graphic design all while I was living in my mom's basement. I have since moved out of the basement and taken what I have learned along the way and applied it towards building a community to help the next generation to learn and excel as I have.
Music / Production: with the exposure to the internet, irc and such I fell into a crowd revolving around music. The community was based around a new form of music(at the time), called Bootleg Remixing or Smash-Ups. The community eventually became
b00mb0x. As things progressed and I started to learn about music production, sampling, loops, effects, and the many software options. I ventured outside of the community and started to work on making original music eventually learning to play bass guitar(I still just mess around according to Adam). Music soon became a very large part of my live and I began building a home studio, back in the basement of course.
The Pondering Pond: I always ponder in with all I am doing with IV-XX and all of these projects all falling together as peices, is there someone else out there doing the same thing? Is there someone else doing something compatable? Would our pieces fit together?
